to light-colored clothing, shelter experts say creative, cost-effective strategies 
are educating people and drawing attention to black cats and dogs to help them find 
their way home in love. 
But first, let's dispel a few myths about black dogs and cats. For starters, there is
 no scientific basis for the fact that black cats bring luck. Or black dogs seem to be
 more at risk for health problems.

A common belief is that dark dogs and cats have more difficulty finding a home.

San Diego has also lifted the policy of not allowing people to adopt black cats in the
 weeks leading up to Halloween. Cats of all colors are ready for adoption throughout the year.

 "The results? Most of the cats were evangelized because of the overflowing 
crowd at the shelter. Saving hundreds of animals from finding a good home by setting up 
unnecessary and ineffective barriers is not the answer to their safety."

 They got Black Dog Club T-shirts and every six months or so, we would organize together with Black Dog Club recipients in a park across the street from our shelter.
